In October, we held our 2025 Annual Members’ Meeting for Self-Help Federal Credit Union in Sunnyside, WA. In this blog post, we give a brief overview of what was shared, including a clip highlighting the evening.
Overview
After an opening reception honoring the local culture complete with tacos and Charro Horses (aka dancing horses), Suzy Fonseca, Self-Help's regional president for Washington, welcomed everyone to the meeting.
After some brief updates, board member elections, a financial review, and remarks from our CEO, we presented our most recent legacy video: Go Out and Do More, which explores the legacy of our branches in the Yakima Valley of WA.
We also had the pleasure of learning from a handful of guest speakers from organizations that we are honored to partner with, who discussed their work with Self-Help and within our communities. These speakers included:
- Antonia Mende, Housing Counseling Manager at OIC of Washington
- Tonantzintla “Tona” Chacón, Executive Director at Community for the Advancement of Family Education (CAFÉ)
- Chaune’ Fitzgerald, Founder and CEO at WOW – Women of Wisdom
- Caty Padilla, Executive Director at Nuestra Casa
We are so grateful to be working with folks at these organizations who are doing incredible work.
